Flair Airlines is currently seeking a permanent, full-time Manager, Below the Wing Operational Support to join our growing and ever-changing organization. Reporting to the Director, Airports Standards and Policies, the Manager, Below the Wing Operational Support works as part of the Standards, Policy, and Quality Assurance teams, holding responsibility and oversight of ensuring full support of below the wing operations and leading the team to act as a conduit between the Standards and \xe2\x80\x9cday of\xe2\x80\x9d operations teams, which will feed information and recommendations into the training group to define and build training materials.
Primary Job Functions:
The duties of the Manager, Below the Wing Operational Support include: Operational Support \xe2\x80\x93 The incumbent is the subject matter expert (SME) for Flair below the wing operations. Working with operational management teams and/or quality control teams, the incumbent will maintain oversight of the operational performance of the BTW operations. Through this insight, the Manager BTW operations will lead department stakeholders in strategies and/or materials to drive improvement and efficiency in the operation. Process and Procedure Improvement \xe2\x80\x93Maintain continuous improvement of documented policies and processes to align with industry best practice (e.g., IATA). This includes, participating in manual updates, producing guidance materials, and providing support to training developers. As the Airports team SME, the Manager BTW support will be key in ensuring safe operations, improving compliance, and driving optimized operations in BTW operations. Station Open/Close/Relaunch \xe2\x80\x93 Supporting the training and operations teams, the Manager BTW operations will take a leadership role in the opening, closing, and/or reopening of any airports within the Flair network. This includes review of, and setting up support for airport facilities, assessing service provider capabilities, ground support requirements, baggage handling areas, and other areas pertaining to the below-wing operations. Within this, the incumbent will determine the needs of on-site support and then allocate them for new, restarting, and closing airports. Safety Management and Safe Operations \xe2\x80\x93 Through involvement within Flair SMS processes and 3rd party safety programs, the Manager BTW support will participate in investigations and corrective action plan development. As well, as provide oversight on any issues/occurrences with internal and 3rd party providers to determine needs, facilitate adherence to standards, training development, and customer service excellence. New system, process development \xe2\x80\x93 Participation in the initial and implementation phases of new projects, this includes, systems, operating practices, and new technology to support the operation. The Incumbent will work to ensure the needs of the BTW operations is represented in any new initiatives and will work with the initial teams to scope the requirements as they pertain to the areas of BTW operations and participate in the project work through to the successful implementation.
Secondary Job Functions:

  • Meet with stakeholders in Airports group and review any demonstrated trends, areas of strength, and weaknesses that require attention. Provide recommendations as needed and act as a champion to ensure completion.
  • Develop and continue relationships with cross-departmental stakeholders to represent BTW operations in working groups.
  • Perform base visits to complete checklists and ensure compliance with company SOPs and further, make recommendations on needed training and/or materials.
  • Produce feedback reviews as needed for stations and department stakeholders to share review results and provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with the airports training team to enhance policies and training material that reflect, and correct trends identified.
  • Drive company culture and messaging by leading and participating in recognition programs and building strong relationships with 3rd party providers and their leadership teams.
  • Provide oversight to ensure the team collaborates with 3rd party service providers to streamline processes and systems.
  • Assist in managing changes for improvement and efficiency gain in processes and operations.
  • Collaborate with the company\xe2\x80\x99s Quality Assurance department to improve oversight processes for the airport\xe2\x80\x99s department as needed.
  • Participate as required in company safety management systems and quality assurance processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • University or College Degree/Diploma in a related field is preferred
  • Seven (7) to Ten (10) years of work experience in an airport operational environment with an emphasis on BTW operations
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience assisting or coordinating airport operational programs.
  • Experience with a ULCC or LCC is considered an asset.
  • Experience in mentor/trainer role considered an asset.
  • Clear criminal record check and satisfactory employment references
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without restriction.
  • Must be able to obtain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)
  • May be required to obtain an AVOP
