Role Purpose
The Air Freight Manager leads the development, execution, and oversight of air freight services for DP World Canada Freight Forwarding. This role is responsible for rate negotiations with airline carriers, providing pricing support to the commercial team, and ensuring workflow efficiency, safe shipment handling, and overall performance of the air freight product. The incumbent owns the profit and loss (P&L) for this product line and ensures alignment with operational, safety, and service standards.
Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the Air Freight product owner, providing leadership and strategic direction.
• Collaborate with commercial team members to support competitive pricing and service offerings.
• Assist operations and pricing teams with smooth execution of services.
• Ensure timeliness in all aspects of our air freight offerings and maintain operational excellence.
• Develop and implement effective workflows and SOPs for air freight services.
• Conduct periodical reviews of airlines and other suppliers to ensure compliance and value.
• Negotiate air freight contracts and rates with airline carriers and third-party vendors.
• Analyze and manage the Air Freight P&L, identifying variances and driving corrective actions.

Knowledge & Qualifications

• 10+ years working within the freight forwarding industry with a strong focus on airfreight operations and procurement.
• Knowledge of other transportation modes including FCL, domestic trucking, rail, and customs brokerage is a plus.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet various deadlines.
• Understanding of Canadian Import/ Export regulations (E-Manifest, etc.).
• Proactive team leader with strong customer service skills.
• Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Intermediate computer skills with a proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
• Ability to communicate with clients, carriers, other forwarders, vendors.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Fluent in English.
• Previous Canadian work experience or experience working directly with Canadian industries.
