Position Title: Major Gifts Officer



Reports To: Vice-President, Philanthropy



I. Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities




The Major Gifts Officer plays a key supporting role in advancing CNIB's philanthropic priorities by assisting with donor cultivation, stewardship, and event support. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Major Giving, the Officer manages entry-level donor relationships, supports major gift officers in cultivation and solicitation activities, and ensures accurate donor record-keeping within CNIB's CRM. This role also serves as a key point of contact for third-party fundraising events, providing administrative and donor support to maximize impact and encourage long-term partnerships.

II. Essential Functions

The position entails, but is not limited to the following key responsibilities:



Assist with cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities for the Ontario Major Giving team. Support the creation of solicitation presentations and materials. Conduct engaging discovery through to solicitation calls that inspire individual donors and prospects to engage in the Foundation's mission and to make meaningful contributions. Support preparation for donor meetings, including briefing materials and follow-up communications. Provide outstanding customer service to donors, ensuring timely responses to inquiries and requests. Lead a portfolio of approximately 20 prospects within the first 18 months of employment. Support the development of donor profiles, tracking moves management activities, and ensuring data accuracy in Salesforce. Act as the primary point of contact for third-party fundraising events, providing guidance, logistical support, and donor stewardship. Coordinate stewardship touches for Ontario major donors such as thank-you letters, impact reports, and event invitations. Support the logistics of donor cultivation and stewardship events, including guest lists, briefings, and follow-ups. Represent CNIB at community events and third-party events, serving as an ambassador for the mission. Work closely with philanthropy colleagues to achieve annual fundraising goal. Collaborate with Marketing & Communications team to ensure high-quality donor-facing materials. Work with the Gift Management Team to ensure timely gift entry and tracking of donor information.

III. Qualifications



1-2 years of fundraising, business development, donor relations, client-focused roles or other similar transferable experience. Post-secondary education in fundraising, nonprofit management, business, communications, or a related field. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to draft donor correspondence and reports. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Salesforce or similar CRM is an asset. Strong organizational and time management skills, with keen attention to detail. Eagerness to learn and grow as part of a collaborative fundraising team. Passionate advocate for CNIB's mission and those we serve.

Work Environment



This role is hybrid office/remote. Willingness to work flexible hours as required for events and donor meetings. Occasional local travel to meet with donors or support events.
