We are seeking a

Maintenance Worker

to care for the buildings, systems, equipment, and grounds of the

10-bed Stabilization Centre.

This role combines preventative maintenance, timely repairs, and custodial care to ensure a clean, reliable, and culturally safe environment for clients, staff, Elders/Knowledge Keepers, and visitors.

What You Will Do

: Reporting to the Stabilization Centre Manager, the Maintenance Worker ensures the safety, cleanliness, and smooth operation of the Centre's buildings and grounds. The role includes preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and custodial duties that keep the facility welcoming and functional. Guided by nehiyaw values, the Maintenance Worker supports a safe, healing environment--respecting ceremony spaces, caring for the land, and responding promptly to maintenance and safety needs. The position also promotes environmentally responsible practices and teamwork across departments to maintain balance, comfort, and dignity for all who use the Centre.

Who You Are

: You are a hands-on problem solver who brings care, respect, and reliability to your work. You balance safety, quality, and cultural awareness, and you communicate clearly with staff, clients, and vendors.

You bring:



High school diploma or equivalent; trades ticket or facilities certificate an asset.
oExperience in facility maintenance, construction, or related field in institutional/healthcare or residential settings; preventative maintenance experience.

Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC fundamentals, and building/fire safety. Familiarity with WHMIS, PPE, IP&C, and safe-work procedures; comfortable using hand/power tools and outdoor equipment. Strong troubleshooting, planning, and prioritization; clear communication and polite, service-oriented approach. Basic computer skills for email and work logs; commitment to green practices and waste reduction.

Conditions of Employment:



Current or willingness to obtain: First Aid/CPR, WHMIS; other safety certifications as assigned (e.g., fall protection, aerial lift). Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check. In good physical condition to perform manual activities. Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence, clear driver's abstract, and reliable, insured vehicle. Adherence to kakisiwew-ochapowace HR policies, Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and OHS standards. Must successfully complete drug and alcohol testing prior to employment and comply with Nation substance use policies.
