The Maintenance Technician is an integral team member of our Plastics Injection Molding Manufacturing operation, who literally helps to keep our 24/5 plant running by applying your preventative maintenance and troubleshooting expertise to maintain our equipment and facility. Under the responsibility of the Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible, to ensure equipment is maintained efficiently, and kept in good repair, including, and not limited to all mechanical, electrical, computer aided, and plumbing technologies used to manufacture, package, store, and ship products. The job holder will also be responsible for implementing preventative/predictive maintenance strategies alongside breakdown repairs, including projects, continuous improvement, 5S, and facility repairs or maintenance work as assigned. What you can expect as our next Maintenance Technician:
  • To provide routine maintenance and inspection injection molding machines, tower water, thermolators, compressors, material conveying equipment / system, dryers, and other associated auxiliary equipment.
  • Good understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics schematics
  • Good knowledge of machine shop practices and welding experience
  • Assist with managing all facets of the plant equipment, buildings, and grounds.
  • Works closely with production to minimize machine downtime by identifying root cause, ensuring timeliness of repair operation, coordinating necessary support departments, and following up on corrective actions to avoid future breakdowns. Inspects operating equipment and environment of the working area and maintain standards
  • Contribute to plant cost and downtime reduction, use Smart Attend monitoring to help with analysis.
  • Adjust and calibrate equipment and machinery to optimal specifications
  • Tracking assets and inventory controls (audits, maintenance parts inventory levels, tracking and allocation of equipment)
  • Creating and maintaining maintenance records. Determining the maintenance requirements set forth by the manufacturer are met while ensuring documentation of internal and external services are recorded and organized
  • Schedule and perform all Preventative Maintenance
  • Implement facilities improvement projects as assigned; helping to coordinate internal resources with outside vendors when appropriate
  • Keep assigned work area clean, neat, organized and free from safety hazards
  • Plan and co-ordinate equipment repair and maintenance with production department and sub-contractors as required
  • Strive for continuous improvement of all equipment, systems, and procedures throughout the facility
  • Maintains safe working environment including completion of accident investigation report, good housekeeping, safety training, Utilization of personal protective equipment, and compliance with safety rules and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance to IATF systems and procedures
  • Ability to work overtime as required, flexible with hours in order to keep production requirements going.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned
Are you our next Maintenance Technician?
  • Industrial Millwright preferred. Can be deferred if requirements met through relevant work experience.
  • 5-to 10 years in a manufacturing environment
  • Technical skills including knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Ability to use precision measuring devices including amp meters, electric meters, and hydraulic gauges.
  • Ability to interpret documents such as procedure manuals, blue prints, schematics, charts, diagrams, etc.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude. Attention to details.
  • Exceptional time keeping skill, organizational and communicational skills both verbal and written
  • Exposure and experience with Continuous Improvement, TPM, Lean, 5S Strategies
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Highly self-motivated, committed team-player with the desire to learn
  • Working knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office applications and a CMMS system.
  • Ability to work at heights and in enclosed spaces
  • Forklift, scissor lift, and overhead crane experience. Experience in the Automotive/Injection Moulding Industry is a definite asset
