Role:

The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for overseeing building maintenance activities and for ensuring an optimal service delivery for matters relating to the facility. In addition, the Facilities Supervisor is responsible for the planning and coordination of the building maintenance team and providing them support to ensure that both compliance with MDA standards and the various regulations surrounding Quebec building maintenance are respected.

Tasks:

  • Supervise and coordinate the various activities relating to facilities maintenance, plan and assign daily tasks to team members;
  • Reviews operational requests, assesses constraints and resolves operational issues that may arise;
  • Coach and train staff, actively participate in their skills development;
  • Act as the main point of contact for the maintenance team and internal departments, provide expertise to assist the team in diagnosing technical issues, troubleshooting equipment, etc.;
  • Advise operations managers on the resolution of maintenance issues or to identify their immediate and/or future needs;
  • In collaboration with the maintenance team, develops the maintenance program and continuity plan;
  • Communicate and coordinate with line managers as needed regarding critical failures and recovery plans, and may participate in strategic resource initiatives;
  • Implements best practices for maintenance techniques and actively works to improve maintenance work methods and processes;
  • Supports the maintenance team in planning major work or projects;
  • Responsible for the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System);
  • Manages documentation and drawings for installations and equipment;
  • Collaborates with suppliers for acquiring parts and services;
  • Prepares quotes for maintenance service contracts;
  • Participates in the selection process for new employees.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
  • DEP/DEC/BACC in a field related to building or facility maintenance;
  • Minimum 5 years\' relevant experience in management/supervision/control (sensitive to quality, costs, schedule);
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial building electromechanical systems;
  • General knowledge of Quebec building codes and standards;
  • Excellent understanding of planning tools and ERP systems;
  • Knowledge of planning, purchasing, finance and ERP system modules, and understanding of how these modules interrelate;
  • Ability to read technical drawings and specifications;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word/Excel/Powerpoint;
  • Advanced knowledge of CMMS;
  • Advanced interpersonal communication skills;
  • Experience in a unionized environment.
