About Us
Building and maintaining our provincial infrastructure is no small job.
The Department of Public Works designs, constructs and maintains provincial highways, public buildings, bridges and other related infrastructure.
With a mandate to provide the safe and efficient movement of people and goods, the maintenance and upkeep of our 23,000 kilometers of roads and highways and 4,100 bridges is paramount to our core responsibilities.
Primary Accountabilities
The position involves administering, coordinating, and tracking the existing exceptional move permit application process within DPW, ensuring effective program communications, information management, program control procedures, and issue resolution. The role also includes assisting in the development and implementation of a new Special Move Permit System, supporting the coordination and tracking of the new application process, and developing a training program for internal users. Responsible for administration and coordination of the Vehicle Reciprocity Program involving Special Vehicle Registration.
Additionally, the position is responsible for administering and coordinating the Road Trail application process, ensuring proper communication, information management, and resolution of issues. This includes reviewing Road Trail applications for completeness and ensuring they meet basic requirements, coordinating the approval process, tracking the review status, consolidating review information, and preparing communications for notification.
As the Emergency Management Agency Representative for DPW, the individual is expected to participate in activations and training to assist in coordinating DPW's response to emergencies affecting provincial infrastructure.
The role also provides administrative support to the Highway Operations Services group, including scheduling and coordinating meetings, training sessions, and events, facilitating training for Highway Maintenance & Operations staff, processing invoices, and handling other administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
This may be the right opportunity for you if you have a bachelor's degree in a business-related field and minimum 1 year of related experience and experience supervising and managing diverse teams; an equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.
Candidates will require a strong working knowledge of records management policy and procedures and project management processes. You shall be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Applications (Excel) to generate reports and presentations.
You must be a strong communicator, both oral and written, with strong attention to detail allowing you to conduct research and identify trends, interpret service contracts, and manage files. You take initiative and you work well independently and in a team environment. You also utilize sound judgement and tact when dealing with a variety of stakeholders. You have organizational and planning skills that allow you to multi-task while adapting to a fast-paced environment, staying in line with the department's goals and objectives.
