As the Maintenance Mechanic with Savage you will be implementing and maintaining the Savage Maintenance Program and safely operating heavy machinery, such as excavators and loaders, to handle coal at the Point Tupper Marine Terminal.

Here is what you will be doing

• Maintain equipment
• Properly record and complete maintenance reports and service records
• Maintain and report spare parts inventory
• Complete PM services on plant and process equipment
• Knowledge of rigging
• Operate any one of the following on a daily basis: a Cat 988 Loader, Volvo L350F, skid steer, e-crane, EC140 excavator and water truck to help move, stock pile, and prepare coal for distribution
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and conveyors
• Take an active role in our safety program including attendance to all safety meetings and ensure safe behaviors

Requirements of a successful Maintenance Mechanic

• Mechanical background with conveyor systems and yellow equipment
• Extensive experience operating large pieces of heavy equipment
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English

Here are some of the physical requirements of this role

• Team Members are routinely required to work outdoors and as a result are exposed to the elements
• Physically able to handle large tools and equipment (50 lbs.)
• Climb on and off the equipment, ascend and descend ladders, and should not have a fear of heights
