About the roleFinding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.We are looking for a Maintainer, Welder to be part of our Fixed Plant Maintenance and Infrastructure department. You will be responsible for performing planned and breakdown installation and maintenance to the mechanical equipment in the various fixed plant environments around site in a safe, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective manner to ensure that equipment availability is maximized.Reporting to the Supervisor, Fixed Plant and located at Lac de Gras, you will be working a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation at the Diavik mine site. You will be responsible for:
Install new or overhauled equipment in a timely manner according to manufacturer\'s recommendations.
Fabricate, overhaul, or modify parts of equipment (e.g., cut, shape, machine, and weld.)
Keep work areas and equipment clean and free of safety hazards on a continuous basis and conduct safety audits as per company policy.
Perform preventative maintenance (e.g., oil, grease, adjust, clean, etc.) to achieve equipment availability greater than 90 percent.
Repair equipment within planned time frames as indicated in work orders.
Conduct equipment inspections in response to Operator concerns or as outlined by the maintenance schedule and detect and diagnose troubles (e.g., vibration, heat, odour, abnormal instrument response).
Perform repairs in a cost-effective, safe, and environmentally friendly manner to maximize equipment availability.
Enter detailed reports on maintenance, repairs, and diagnosis into the preventative and predictive maintenance database prior to the end of each shift.
Provide sufficient detail about repairs so that others can understand what work has been done on the equipment.
As required, help develop Apprentices, including delegating tasks or projects that will assist with their skill development, so the individual can provide greater support and meet apprenticeship requirements.
Operate mobile equipment - specifically aerial work platforms and scissor lifts, bobcats, front end loaders as required.
Work and promote safety.
What you\'ll bring
Interprovincial red seal journeyman Welder certification.
CWB SMAW/GMAW/FCAW certification would be considered an asset.
Experience with carbon arc airing/gouging/cutting.
Experience using overhead cranes and rigging.
Pipe fitting experience.
Current St. John\'s Ambulance Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR is an asset.
Training on the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is an asset.
At least 3 years of experience working as a Welder in a mineral processing facility.
Ability to install, maintain, weld and repair industrial equipment including mineral sizers, cone crushers, jaw crushers, high pressure roll crusher, scrubbers, conveyors (conventional and high angle), slurry pumps, vibrating screens, and apron feeders.
Ability to fabricate would be considered an asset.
Excellent oral, written and active-listening skills
