OverviewIf you\xe2\x80\x99re passionate about making a difference to injured workers and want to take your experience making adjudicative decisions to the next level, then we\xe2\x80\x99d like to hear from you.As a long-term disability officer, you\xe2\x80\x99ll be responsible for managing and adjudicating claims involving functional award entitlement for partial and total disabilities. In this role, you\'ll be reviewing and assessing file information and evidence, determining the potential existence of loss of earnings, reassessing and adjusting established pensions as required and communicating pension award decision.How you\xe2\x80\x99ll make a difference You\xe2\x80\x99ll ensure people with permanent work-related disabilities get the benefits they need.At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices based on the operational needs of the position.In this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll work primarily from home and occasionally in our Richmond, B.C., office.What you\'ll do

  • Review claim files to determine permanent functional impairments
  • Deny awards assessments, reassessments, or entitlement in the event of non-supporting evidence
  • Implement the Appeal Boards\xe2\x80\x99 decisions
  • Assess the disability award based on medical and related information, obtaining additional information if needed
  • Determine appropriate payment terms, including advising clients of decisions reached with respect to their claim or commutation request

  • Gather and weigh evidence, determine relevant facts, and make a timely decision within prescribed guidelines
Your background and experience
  • An undergraduate degree and a minimum of two years, within the past five years of experience making adjudicative decisions or applying law and/or policy to make decisions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software
