Senior Structural Liaison Engineer
Licensed Science Officer 4 (Designated Professional Engineer)

Does working on the largest inventory of highway structures in BC with close to 3,000 bridges and countless culverts, tunnels, retaining walls, and sign structures excite you? Do you prefer managing multiple structural design projects from a high level rather than spending months producing a single design? If yes, then this could be the job opportunity you have been waiting for! As a Senior Structural Liaison Engineer you will:
  • Evaluate unique and rich technical proposals by consultants.
  • Review structural reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates produced by consultants for technical accuracy and adherence to Ministry standards and specifications.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary design review meetings where the best talent from the consulting industry summarizes months of technical work in fascinating presentations.

Projects can include design of new and replacement structures, or rehabilitation, functional upgrades, or seismic retrofits of existing structures. Project size can vary from a single structure to larger programs involving multiple structures along a highway corridor.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in structural engineering, or civil engineering with a structural background.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in the design, bridge, rehabilitation, assessment / inspection of bridges and related highway structures.
  • An equivalent combination of education (related degree) and experience, in a related or similar field may also be considered.
  • Registration as a professional engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists BC or qualifications to obtain this registration within the first six months of employment.
  • Experience in dealing with consultants and contracts.
