  • Be enrolled in a post-secondary institution and available from May to August.
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada by way of Canadian Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or a valid work permit.
  • If you are selected for a role considered safety-sensitive, you will be required to successfully complete a Medical and/or Alcohol and drug test.
Students are also required to submit a cover letter and recent transcripts. The cover letter will address the following questions:

Note: Applications must have a recent transcript to be considered.The TeamAs our Summer Student Logistics & Operations you will be responsible for supporting the logistics team by assisting in coordinating shipments, tracking inventory, and analyzing supply chain efficiency. This role aims to provide practical experience in logistics management while directly contributing to smoother operations and enhanced efficiency.This role is based out of the Red Deer office on a full-time, Monday to Friday schedule.Work EnvironmentThe Logistics & Operations team works with the Metals Recycling management team and the external customers to ensure order fulfillment activities are completed and all commercial documentation is completed.A Day in The Life
  • Track and maintain inventory records, ensuring accuracy across multiple facilities and assisting with periodic audits.
  • Monitor logistics schedules and shipment tracking, updating the team on potential delays and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Support the coordination with suppliers for inbound and outbound logistics, confirming order details, delivery schedules, and compliance with organizational requirements.
  • Analyze transportation and warehousing costs, helping identify areas to reduce expenses and improve cost efficiency.
  • Document and evaluate logistics workflows, identifying potential areas for process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • Actively enrolled in in a post-secondary program in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or Operations Management.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to work with data, perform cost analysis, and develop insights that support strategic decisions.
  • Attention to Detail: High accuracy in tracking and documenting shipments, inventory, and supplier communications.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Excel; familiarity with logistics or inventory software is an asset.
  • Communication Skills: Effective at collaborating with logistics providers, suppliers, and internal team members.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: A proactive approach to identifying and addressing logistical challenges as they arise.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to take on diverse tasks and adapt to the fast-paced environment typical in logistics.
