Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a skilled and safety-minded
Logging Supervisor
to join our team. The ideal candidate has minimum 5 years' experience in supervising mechanical and conventional harvesting, communicates effectively, and works well in a collaborative environment. The Logging Supervisor will be responsible for supervision of the full phase TFL39 Blk 1, Bill 13 contract USW unionized crew logging operations.
The ideal Candidate will possess the following qualifications and skill set:
Commitment to excellence in safety and environmental management within industrial operations.
Experience in supervising mechanical and conventional harvesting operations.
Understanding of harvesting productivity and equipment rates to support the Manager with rate development and negotiation.
Experience supervising in a unionized environment with a specific understanding of the United Steelworkers and WFP Collective Agreement.
Mechanical aptitude and ability to support troubleshooting and maintenance scheduling.
Ability to transport crew via boat to remote locations.
Strong problem-solving and project management abilities.
Ability to successfully Lead a Team.
Excellent communication skills to interact with team members and management.
Be professional and accountable.
General computer skills with email; Excel and Word considered an asset
Strong work ethic and leadership.
Preferred Additional Assets:
Proven experience supervising cable yarding will be considered a significant asset.
Ability to operate various pieces of equipment would be considered a significant asset.
Certifications/Training Required:
Small Vessel Operator Proficiency
Pleasure Craft Operator
First-Aid
Basic Forest Supervisor Training - BCFSC
Key Responsibilities:
Uphold the values of the organization daily.
Ensure customer requirements are met in all areas including safety, quality control and environment.
Ensure productivity targets are met and report as required to update Management.
Ensure operations are conducted to Company standards.
Plan and dispatch employees and equipment as needed to achieve planned harvesting production.
Train, schedule, and motivate employees as well as administering discipline when required.
Apply mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues and schedule/support scheduling and planning of repairs.
Adhere to budgets provided by management.
Participate and conduct meetings (Safety, crew, production, management)
Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing safety regulations and conducting regular inspections.
