Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Local Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods and materials within the local area, ensuring timely and safe delivery. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial driving and the ability to operate heavy equipment. Candidates with experience in forklift operation and automotive repair will be highly regarded. This position will include occasional trip to MTL and back.

Responsibilities

Safely operate commercial vehicles to transport freight to designated locations. Load and unload goods, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations. Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery confirmations. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays. Operate forklifts and other heavy equipment as needed for loading and unloading tasks. Perform routine maintenance on vehicles, including basic automotive repairs when necessary.

Requirements

Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) is required. Proven experience in commercial driving, with a clean driving record. Familiarity with freight handling procedures and regulations. Experience operating forklifts and heavy equipment is preferred. Basic knowledge of automotive repair is a plus. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills to interact with customers and team members effectively.
