Job Description

MLTC was created by nine First Nations located in north-west Saskatchewan who have constitutionally recognized aboriginal rights and Treaty Rights under Treaties #6, #8 and #10. The primary purpose of MLTC is to serve those First Nations in their aspirations for cultural, economic and political autonomy. As a private sector employer engaged primarily in promoting and serving the interests of the member First Nations, MLTC asserts its right to provide preferential treatment to First Nations people, giving them priority in decisions on employment matters such as hiring, and this can extend to measures such as opening competitions only to First Nations people.

The LLRC Land-Based Consultant will implement and support the Land, Language, Relationships, and Culture foundations within the position, which includes but is not limited to: work plans, projects, initiatives, resources, planning, collaborations, etc. Create and support land-based development in alignment with land, language, relationship & culture (LLRC) initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities (Include, but not limited to):



Responsible for the implementation of school-based needs and providing long- range second-level service & delivery - modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, co-assessment. Monitoring and follow-up on project timelines. Facilitation of PD presentation (provide rationale for contract requests/fee for service for PD, school-based needs, and external consultants, content development, resource material preparation) Support for all event planning details and collaboration with team members. Coach, model, and demonstrate land-based activities Support Treaty Education initiatives.

Required Education, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:



Minimum:

A Bachelor's Degree in Education Saskatchewan Professional A Teachers' Certification or the ability to obtain such standing; and a minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience.
Preferred:

Master's Degree or commitment to begin studies in a field appropriate to LLRC initiatives. Experience in working with First Nations' Schools & Communities.
Other:

Willing to travel to the First Nation Communities; work within a team setting and independently. Fluent in the Cree and/or Dene language(s) and have experience in working with First Nations' Schools & Communities is a definite asset. Support land-based education in connection to language revitalization. Awareness of cultural protocols of Cree and Dene First Nations. Awareness of protocols working with Elders from different First Nations. Experience or knowledge of Ipad/Smart Suite, Microsoft Office, Google Suite
