Job Description

We are seeking reliable and qualified Snow Plow and Salt Spreader Operators to join our winter maintenance team. Successful candidates will operate a range of heavy equipment for plowing, salting, and anti-icing on municipal roadways. This work is event-based and may include training shifts as required.

Operators assigned to Live-In positions are expected to reside at the designated Winter Maintenance Depot for the duration of the contract. Meals and accommodations will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate heavy equipment such as plow and salting combo units, salt brine trucks, spreaders, single-axle plows, 4x4 truck plows, and Kubota tractors. Perform roadway plowing, salting, anti-icing, and snow removal operations. Inspect and maintain equipment, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently. Follow detailed route maps, GPS directions, and all company and safety protocols. Report issues or hazards promptly to supervisors or dispatch.

Skills & Qualifications:

1-3 years of experience operating heavy equipment. Minimum 1 year of experience in plowing and/or salting roadways. Experience working in municipal or provincial winter operations considered an asset. Knowledge of winter maintenance and salting techniques. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and adherence to OHSMS policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.

Licences Required:

DZ, AZ, or G Licence in good standing. (Note: Ontario commercial licence holders with a Z endorsement after Sept. 1, 2023, must have a certificate of completion for the new module on file.)
