Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Live-In Caregiver to provide total support and care for a senior male in his own home in Sooke. As an In Home Caregiver, you will play a vital role in enhancing his quality of life by assisting him with daily activities, ensuring his safety, and promoting his independence. This position requires a nurturing attitude and a commitment to delivering high-quality care.

Duties

Assist client with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting and exercises Administer medications as prescribed and monitor client for any side effects or changes in condition. Provide companionship and emotional support to client, fostering a positive environment. Driving client to appointments or outings Assisting client at appointments or on outings Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary restrictions or preferences. All aspects of running a home including housekeeping, laundry, minor repairs to maintain a clean and safe living environment. Help clients with mobility challenges, including heavy lifting when necessary Document care provided and report any changes in client condition to the appropriate parties.

Skills

Experience in home care or caregiving is preferred, with knowledge of patient care practices. Proficiency in medication administration and understanding of medication management. Ability to prepare meals that meet specific dietary needs and preferences. Strong physical capability for heavy lifting and assisting clients with mobility. Patience and empathy when working with individuals with disabilities or those requiring assisted living support. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare professionals. Drivers licence and drivers abstract Criminal record check including vulnerable persons First aid, CPR, food safe
A knowledge and interest in sports, gardening, the outdoors is an asset.

The successful candidate will receive room and board along with salary and benefits based on experience.

Preference will be given to mature, older males but all candidates will be considered.
