Litigation Legal Assistant

Job Description

If you have at least 5-10 years of legal assistant experience in a Litigation practice, then the next step in your career could be with Parlee McLaws LLP in our downtown Calgary office.



You are a self-starter with high attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and excellent organizational skills to support busy practices.


Key requirements:




Highly organized and pro-active approach to meeting deadlines while producing accurate quality work Substantial reliability and adaptability accompanied by a professional demeanor and conduct Strong client service and relationship building skills Intermediate to advanced knowledge MS Office Suite with knowledge of other software being an asset (e.g. Worldox, 3E Elite, Remindex, SpeechExec, FoxIt) Works efficiently as a part of a team or independently Strong customer service and relationship building skills Readily adapts and works effectively with changing priorities in a high-volume work environment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:




Conduct court searches Draft correspondence and court documents Pre-trial and trial preparation including maintenance of all trial binders and limitation systems Proactively manage timelines of tasks and files to ensure team meets required statutes of limitations and deadlines Draft a variety of legal documents including briefs and factums Schedule applications and questionings Manage workflow for team of lawyers Coordinate and schedule meetings and maintain calendars Preparation of accounts and time entry General administrative tasks including office and file management Other tasks as required

Other requirements:




Post-secondary education from a recognized Legal Assistant program (equivalent experience may be considered) Experience with document management system Keen attention to detail in producing accurate, high-quality work Effectively adapt and work with changing priorities in a high-volume work environment Problem-solving skills with a pro-active mindset
