MacIsaac Gow LLP is a dynamic and growing injury firm in Mississauga. We represent our clients in all aspects of motor vehicle accident, personal injury and property claims in courts and tribunals throughout Ontario. Duties include:
Compassionate client interaction, by email, telephone, video conferencing, and in person
Preparing service of court documentations, arranging for service of documents with external process servers and document pickups
Preparing intake information for new file opening, opening new files completely
Managing and maintaining lawyers' schedules and agendas
Document preparation, preparing, editing and formatting correspondence and legal documents, (OCF forms, pleadings, factums, motions, affidavit of documents, trial briefs, etc.)
Managing large and complex files, developing, maintaining and utilizing an orderly filing and retrieval process to ensure ease of reference to electronic records.
Preparing correspondence to adjusters, counsel and clients
Scheduling appointments, examinations for discoveries, mediations, calls, etc.
Managing and maintaining lawyers' calendars, schedules and agendas
Scheduling examinations for discoveries, meditation, calls between counsels
Reviewing and summarizing medical and liability documentation, both pre- and post-discovery (undertakings)
Prepare and maintain undertaking charts
Preparing notices of examinations, discovery plans, affidavit of documents, motion records
Corresponding and bookings with court reporting services, interpreters, transportations needs, if necessary
Arranging independent medical examinations, including preparing medical briefs
Skills and Experience Required:
Ability to speak comfortably, confidently, empathetically, and knowledgeably with clients, lawyers, clinics, employers, adjusters and court staff
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including taking and giving oral and written instructions
Ability to produce accurate, high-quality work with minimal supervision in a busy work environment within established time frames
Attention to detail with a desire to take initiative.
Ability to organize files, revise, proofread and edit documents, and manage a busy and fast-paced practice
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collegial team
Mature work ethic and good sense of humour
Ability to learn new computer programs as needed
Willingness to learn and continue to develop
Working knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel
Post-secondary, college, or other formal/on-the-job training
Strong working knowledge of accident benefits and tort law, court forms, and the Rules of Civil Procedure* Ability to speak other languages is considered an asset
