Line Cook / Sous Chef

Job Description

Augusto's Grill in Leamington is looking to add a Sous Chef to our

growing team. We are a family owned and operated Italian restaurant in the heart of Leamington. Compensation ranges from $22-$25 for 44 - 50 hours weekly. Pay is bi-weekly, tip out is weekly. Room for advancement as Augusto's will continue to grow with our outdoor patio space, and private dining room/banquet space. Looking for a well-rounded chef, must have strong communication skills, can-do attitude, with at least 4 years culinary experience.

Responsibilities;

Staff management

: Supervise and delegate tasks to line cooks, prep cooks, and. other kitchen staff, providing training and performance feedback.

Menu development

: Assist the executive chef in creating and updating menus, including pricing and ingredient sourcing.

Food preparation

: Prepare dishes according to recipes, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation, and may specialize in specific sections of the kitchen.

Inventory control

: Manage food inventory, ordering supplies, and minimizing food costs.

Quality control:

Monitor and help control food quality, taste, and presentation to maintain standards.

Kitchen sanitation

: Ensure adherence to food safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized kitchen.

Cost management

: Track food costs and help identify areas for cost reduction.

Shift management

: Oversee kitchen operations during assigned shifts, ensuring efficient workflow and timely service.

Communication

: Effectively communicate with the executive chef, kitchen staff, and other departments regarding orders, changes, and any issues.
Required s ls and certifications:

Strong culinary skills

: Expertise and knowledge in Italian cuisine preferred.

Leadership abilities

: Effectively manage and motivate kitchen staff

Time management

: Prioritize tasks and work efficiently under pressure. Ability to adapt to changing needs effectively.

Attention to detail

: Maintain consistency in food quality and presentation

Food safety knowledge

: Understand and comply with food hygiene regulations

Communication skills:

Clearly communicate instructions and expectations to staff

Adaptability

: Respond to changing demands and dietary restrictions

Red Seal or Culinary Diploma

: Post secondary culinary education or red seal certification preferred

Food handler certificate

: Mandatory

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
