The Standard - Located at 10 James St. N is Hamilton's newest culinary destination. We are now hiring for an Experienced Line Cook with a la minute cooking & saute experience. Familiarity with multi course tasting menus is a plus
The Standard is focused on a seasonal and inspired approach to refined dining. Aiming to over deliver each time, our menus rotate monthly with the addition of supplements and tasting experiences each week. With a purpose built open kitchen, chef counter on the pass, and a from scratch classical approach with modern influence we are excited to show what we have to offer.
Our bar team applies the same principles to mixology with a ambitious and evolved approach to cocktails. Also with a ever evolving offering, the commitment to the craft is ever present. From clarification to ultrasonic emulsion we are constantly challenges ourselves.
Our Service team excels in hospitality, with the goal of making each visit memorable and unique. Evolved steps of service and knowledge that extends beyond the menu we empower our people to be part of setting The Standard.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook food items according to recipes and quality standards
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Assist in the development and planning of menus
- Collaborate with kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient operations
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow proper cooking techniques and presentation standards
- Ensure that all dishes are prepared in a timely manner
- Assist with the training of new kitchen staff members
Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced refined kitchen environment
- Knowledge of food handling and safety regulations
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods of time and lift heavy objects
- Culinary degree or certification is a plus, but not required
