Line Cook and Catering Lead
to join our team!
The key accountabilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
Catering Lead Duties
Lead food preparation, cooking, and execution of catering functions.
Execute booked, ongoing, future and last-minute catering booking according to instructions and information as communicated by supervisor via TPASC Event Quote.
Act as the main point of contact during event with event organizer regarding food related inquiries, including requests for replenishing/adding hot and cold beverages, additional food items, etc. Inquiries of this matter, including last minute additions or special requests should be communicated and addressed to supervisor and executed accordingly.
Set up and break down catering events including table arrangements, tray carrying, guest service, replenishing food and beverages, and post-event cleanup.
Deliver outstanding customer service, ensuring a professional, responsive, and courteous experience for all guests
Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely reordering or restocking. Report low stock levels or ordering needs to the Supervisor as required.
Direct and coordinate catering support staff (including agency workers) to ensure smooth execution of events. Provide clear instruction and delegate responsibilities as needed.
Line Cook Duties
Follow daily opening and closing procedures, as well as maintaining clean and safe environment during the shift, re-stocking, replenishing, and rotating products, checking inventory and sorting deliveries.
Prepare and cook food items as required, including support for other food outlets (e.g., pizza, deep-fried items).
Use the cash register, debit/credit card terminal, handling cash, and process accurate payments.
General Duties
Perform all opening and closing responsibilities for the food service area including checklists, float counts, deposit preparation, and identifying/reporting any issues.
Maintain punctuality, reliability, and the ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Exhibit a customer-focused attitude in all interactions, resolving issues and answering questions professionally.
Demonstrate initiative and leadership in managing tasks and addressing uncertainties, escalating major concerns to the Supervisor when necessary.
Ensure all health and safety standards are followed at all times, including safe food handling, proper cleaning procedures, and correct equipment use.
Close down catering events thoroughly, including dismantling setups, returning stock, washing and storing equipment and utensils properly.
Promote food and beverage services when interacting with clients or guests, upholding the organization's image and standards.
Follow all company policies, operational procedures, and comply with legal requirements (e.g., OHSA, Human Rights Code, ESA).
Perform other related duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Minimum of two (2) years' experience in food preparation and cooking; catering experience is required
Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is an asset
Culinary diploma or degree is considered an asset
Valid Smart Serve and Food Handlers Certification are required
Strong ability to lead and motivate a team
Demonstrated ability to work quickly, efficiently, and under pressure
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Positive attitude with a friendly and professional demeanor
Strong work ethic and commitment to high-quality service
Ability to follow directions efficiently and meet the physical demands of the role
Must be available to work flexible hours, including days, afternoons, evenings, and weekends
The successful candidate will be required to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check.
