The Life Promotion Coach will play a vital role in supporting individuals on their wellness journey by fostering resilience, building coping skills, and promoting holistic mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. This position focuses on culturally grounded, strengths-based approaches that help clients enhance their quality of life, develop healthy routines, and access appropriate supports. The Life Promotion Coach will work as part of a multidisciplinary mental wellness team and contribute to a safe, welcoming, and recovery-oriented environment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide one-on-one coaching to clients focused on life skills development, goal setting, motivation, and wellness planning.
Facilitate group-based programs that promote mental health, resilience, self-esteem, and positive coping strategies.
Support clients in navigating community resources, health services, cultural supports, educational opportunities, and employment pathways.
Collaborate closely with clinical staff, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and support workers to deliver holistic and culturally appropriate services.
Assist clients in building routines that promote mental wellness, such as physical activity, healthy nutrition, mindfulness practices, and self-care strategies.
Participate in crisis response and safety planning as part of the broader wellness team.
Document client progress, maintain confidential records, and contribute to case management discussions.
Promote community engagement and support wellness events, workshops, and outreach activities.
Uphold trauma-informed, harm-reduction, and culturally safe practices in all interactions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Indigenous Studies, Mental Health, Human Services, or equivalent combination of education and experience, if a diploma holder.
Experience working in mental health, addictions, youth support, community outreach, or related fields.
Knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions, and community wellness approaches is considered a strong asset.
Training in suicide prevention, ASIST, mental health first aid, or trauma-informed care is an asset.
Excellent communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel if required
Fluency in Cree is considered an asset.
A clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check upon interview.
