Job Description

The Library Technician duties demand a high level of constant multi-tasking while managing specialized functions to support our high school library and information environment.

Skills and Responsibilities:

- Working in conjunction with the Library Clerk in the management of Circulation tasks and responsibilities.

- Assist teachers to locate and work with the diverse and evolving library collection, link, and services.

- Encourage and assist students in effectively and efficiently using the library collection, search stations, links, webpages, and services.

- Assist with daily supervision of library patrons and the implementation of library/school/divisional policies.

- Handling other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- A Diploma in Library and Information Technology plus a minimum of three years of library experience, or currently studying online or attending a library and information technology program with the commitment to complete the program within a specified time as determined by LSRCSS and LSSD plus a minimum of five years of library experience.

- Preference for consideration will be given to those with high school library experience.

- Excellent computer skills.

- Ability to meet physical demands of the position.

- Creative display capabilities would be considered an asset.

- A strong ability to work effectively as a member of the library team to achieve divisional, school and library goals, objectives, and outcomes.

- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with students.

- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

- The capacity to enhance change, accept challenges, and problem solve.

- A Diploma in Library and Information Technology, or acceptance in to the library and information technology program with the commitment to complete the program within a specified time period.

- Excellent computer skills.

- Ability to meet physical demands of the position.

- Creative display capabilities would be considered an asset.

Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check will be required.
