Fleming College Library is a dynamic learner support hub that is dedicated to empowering and inspiring all users to reach their academic potential. Our library locations in Sutherland and Frost campuses both feature welcoming and accessible spaces, access to extensive online and print materials, and supportive staff committed to helping students succeed at college and beyond. What This Position is About: As Temporary Part-Time Library Assistant, you will provide customer service to Fleming College students, in the form of answering research and reference questions, fielding service and directional questions, circulating materials and providing basic IT troubleshooting. This position also has responsibility for assisting full-time staff with projects in their areas of responsibility. This may include work in the areas of collections and technical services (cataloguing and processing material), running reports from the Library Services Platform (Alma), managing the reserve shelves, and other projects as assigned. This position is responsible for providing core customer service functions and will be scheduled to work evenings and some weekends, including providing evening service desk coverage at the Frost campus location Monday – Thursday from 4-8 pm. We are looking for customer service focused individuals that have a relevant combination of experience and education which should include a Library and Information Technician diploma (or equivalent) and a minimum of 1 year of experience working in an automated library environment utilizing library management systems, web-based research and reference tools, and content management systems. Ideal candidates should have experience working in a customer service front-line environment and using database, spreadsheet, word processing and email applications as well as be comfortable and able to work independently or in a team environment; while staying organized and prioritizing their own work.
