Once hired you will utilize your expertise in Early Childhood Education to enhance the growth and quality of the Might Learners District's before and after-school program. You will serve as the primary support to the Programs Director/Supervisor, fulfilling the responsibilities of an alternate supervisor and room lead. This role requires close collaboration with the Supervisor, families, and Calgary Christian School staff to foster an inclusive environment.
In your capacity as a room lead, you will design and implement engaging and enjoyable activities that promote learning and development. Your overarching objective will be to provide a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that acknowledges and respects each child's individuality, cultural background, and family values. You will create a dynamic atmosphere that supports children's holistic development by effectively utilizing time, space, and materials in ways that celebrate their abilities and nurture their potential.
Mighty Learners is a before and after school daycare. Casual staff will be expected to work "split shifts" which entails :
Monday to Thursday 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM and then 2:30PM-6:00PM
Friday 12:00PM to 6:00PM
PD days, winter breaks, and spring breaks result in 6 to 8 hour shifts
Responsibilities
Providing support for the Lead childcare educator
Setting up classroom activities and materials, based on planning and observations
Work cooperatively as a member of the childcare team, facilitating a team environment through personal behaviour, work contributions, and the sharing of expertise and knowledge
Provide effective supervision, support classroom routines, and maintain behavioural expectations with children
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with early childhood education standards.
Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment for all children, including those with diverse needs.
Foster positive relationships with children, encouraging their curiosity and love for learning.
Monitor and assess children's progress, providing feedback to parents and guardians as needed.
Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to enhance the educational experience and share best practices.
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom space.
Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
Qualifications
Must have a valid level 2 ECE certification
Or have a valid level 1 ECE certfication and currently be enrolled in an early learning and child care certificate program offered by an Alberta public college or university, or an approved educational equivalency
Current First Aid and CPR certification (preferred)
Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check.
Proven classroom experience in an early childhood setting is essential.
Strong teaching skills with the ability to engage young learners effectively.
A background in early childhood education or a related field is required.
Experience supporting children's developmental needs is beneficial.
