Legal Assistant/Junior Law Clerk

Our client, a well established, professional and growing corporation, is in need of a Legal Assistant/Junior Law clerk to join its team. This role will report to the GC and Senior Law Clerk


This is a permanent full time role. Anticipated start date is April 2023. Hours are 9:00AM - 5:00PM Monday to Friday.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide administrative and legal support to Leasing Law Clerk

Assist in preparation, revision and processing of various legal documents and correspondence

Accurately track status of all agreements, maintain tracking lists and consistent follow-up on files

Prepare memos and circulate to appropriate departments

Close files, upload final pertinent documents to company database and update database accordingly

Provide administrative support for the legal department, as required

Receiving and processing signed agreements for signature internally (checking initials, signatures, names & titles of signing officers, ensuring that documents received are the correct versions etc.)

Courier and/or email fully executed leasing documents and other agreements to tenants with cover letters

Filing of original leases, correspondence, and documents

Prepare, issue and follow up on invoices for legal fees

Distribution of department mail, photocopying and faxing

Answer telephones in Legal Department

Liaise with a team of professionals in other departments as required.


EDUCATION:




Ontario Law Clerk Diploma (graduates from the AcceleratedLaw Clerk Program preferred)

Ontario University Degree or college diploma or equivalent

SKILLS:




Intermediate-Advanced level of skill in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe and Excel

Excellent keyboarding skills with a high level of accuracy (minimum typing speed of 60 wpm required)

Exceptional proof-reading skills, critical thinking and attention to detail

Advanced command of the English language, both oral and written

Flexibility and willingness to undertake multiple tasks with changing priority levels

Ability to take direction, produce accurate work under pressure and meet deadlines under minimal supervision

Professional email etiquette when corresponding with clients, lawyers, agents and colleagues

Strong initiative and energetic approach to all tasks

Supportive of others with a strong \xe2\x80\x9cteam approach\xe2\x80\x9d
