Litigation Law Clerk/Legal Assistant
Downtown Toronto

Our client, a dynamic litigation boutique is growing! They are looking for a Litigation Legal Assistant/Law Clerk to join its team! If you want to be involved in civil, commercial and class action litigation look no further!

Qualifications:
  • At least 2-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Law clerk diploma.
  • Experience in e-discovery is an asset.
  • Solid organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize projects, manage workload and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong experience with calendar and legal practice management
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with document management systems (iManage), docketing software system (Soluno), document review software (Relativity) and other specific litigation applications (ACL, Caselines, Westlaw, Canlii, etc.) is an asset.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work overtime.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Managing files including file opening, and updating contacts.
  • Preparing, formatting, and revising correspondence, memoranda, litigation documents, including pleadings, motion materials, and affidavits etc.
  • Coordinating the issuance, service, and filing of court documents.
  • Strong knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and relevant practice directions.
  • Managing calendars and key dates including physical bring forward system and updating calendars for assigned lawyers.
  • Assisting lawyers in the preparation and coordination of hearings and trials; recording and monitoring court appearance dates, pleadings and filing requirements.
  • Communicating with courts, clients, process servers and opposing counsel.
  • Coordinating lawyer travel arrangements, including preparing itineraries and travel expense reports.
  • Marketing & Business Development Support.
  • Various administrative duties, as needed.
