A Day In The Life The Legal Assistant contributes to the efficient day-to-day operations by providing clerical and administrative support to our lawyers. This is done through exceptional practice management and client service, the ability to successfully handle competing priorities, and a high degree of confidentiality and discretion. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Handle all administrative duties such as email and calendar management, coordinating meetings, attending to conflict searches and file opening/closing, preparing expense reports, engagement letters and routine correspondence etc.
  • Prepare and maintain a bring-forward system, as well as provide appropriate reminders
  • Ensure all physical and electronic filing is organized and up to date on a regular basis
  • Commercial and residential real estate transactions - drafting of legal and banking documents in the areas of purchase, sale and refinance from opening to closing file
  • Review purchase and sale contracts, builders contracts, financing documents, leases and Land Titles documents
  • Provide support for acquisitions and sales of: commercial properties, condominium developments, financing transactions, and land development
  • Carry out title and off-title due diligence searches on commercial properties and reviewing reports
  • Commercial lending transactions
  • Assist lawyers with preparing contracts, including lease or rental agreements and closing document
Qualifications
  • Completion of a post-secondary Legal Assistant or Law Clerk course
  • A minimum of 3+ years? working experience (large firm experience preferred) in Real Estate
  • In-depth understanding of business and legal terminology
  • Strong technical skills using Microsoft Office 365
  • Experience working with 3E, iManageWork, DocuSign

  • Ability to work independently and also be a flexible team player

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
