KMB Law, LLP is seeking an Family Legal Assistant with at least 2 years of Law Firm experience. POSITION DESCRIPTION Title: Family Legal Assistant Reports To: Practice Coordinator \xe2\x80\x93 Family PROFILE: Description The successful candidate will assist in complex transactional, corporate reorganizations and commercial contracts. This position will be working aside a well-established team. Hours of work are from 9 am to 5 pm. The successful candidate may be required to work outside of normal business hours to meet business and client needs. KMB Law, LLP is seeking Family Law Legal Assistant with at least 2 years of experience The role will be responsible for a wide variety of administrative duties. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Produce and edit legal documents including: letters, memos, faxes and agreements.
  • Draft correspondence for approval by the Professionals.
  • Proofread and edit all documentation for grammar, spelling, and content accuracy.
  • Keeping on top of court dates and deadlines.
  • Organize client files and maintain up-to-date file system, including electronic documents in Prolaw and Divorcemate.
  • Assist with general practice management, including maintaining due dates, oversee calendar appointment/meeting bookings for lawyers.
  • Billing accounts.
  • Provide back-up coverage to the group during absences, and assist with overflow work, when required.
  • Other administrative duties as required.
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of work experience in litigation
  • Good understanding of legal reference materials, procedures, and legal filing systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the statutes of Family Law rules and court filing procedures is a strong asset.
  • Anticipating next steps to keep files moving;- organized in administrative duties such as filing and transcribing dictation.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in MS Office, Divorcemate, including support calculations and, if possible, ProLaw case and document management.
  • Excellent oral and writing skills, including proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation for complex documentation.
  • Superior time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Professional, responsive, and positive work attitude is critical.
  • Able to maintain filing systems and basic databases.
  • Strong administrative, organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Confident, dependable team player with initiative
