We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to join our dynamic Wills and Estate legal team for 12 - 18 months.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Wills and Estate procedures, as well as exceptional organizational skills and communication skills.
Responsibilities
Assisting our lawyer with all aspects of Estate Documents and Estate Litigation cases, including drafting legal documents, correspondence, and court forms
Managing client communications, including phone calls, emails and in-person inquiries
Maintaining and organizing client files and documents in both physical and electronic formats
Scheduling appointments, court dates and other important deadlines
Conducting legal research and gathering relevant case materials as needed
Liaising with court staff, opposing counsel, and other legal professionals on behalf of the firm
Providing administrative support to our lawyer, such as billing, expense tracking, and file management
Requirements
1-3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably in Wills and Estates
Strong knowledge of Wills and Estate Litigation procedures and terminology
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Proficiency in using Clio Accounting software
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Experience working in a stressful legal environment and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12-18 months
Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
