Our client, a prominent Canadian business law firm, are currently seeking legal assistants to join their Commercial Real Estate group, who will contribute to the overall excellent level of service provided to their clients. The ideal candidate will be someone who takes pride in their work, is detail oriented, reliable, highly organized and has the ability to handle multiple priorities. This is an in-office role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation and completion of all necessary documentation for commercial real estate purchase, sale and mortgage transactions from beginning to end
  • Review title and off title searches, draft title memoranda
  • With a team, support and assist with bulk condominium interim closings and final closings
  • Prepare documents in Teraview including Transfers, Charges, Discharges, and Notices
  • Assist with various other projects, financing and development work, as needed
  • Help with financial and other tracking of large condominium projects using MS Excel
  • Process deposits releases and construction financing draws
  • Organize files and keep all electronic and physical filing up to date
  • Various administrative tasks such as: handling incoming phone calls, mail, faxes, emails, wire deposits, closing files, photocopying, etc.
  • Works independently and is professional
  • Produce the highest quality of work
  • Accountable for all work assigned
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years' previous experience as a Legal Assistant (in commercial real estate law and/or condominium development)
  • The role requires the legal assistant to be in-office Monday to Friday during business hours
  • Successful completion of a related post-secondary Legal Assistant or Law Clerk program
  • Experience with condominium development law would be considered an asset
  • Experience with Lawyer Done Deal, Conveyancer and Teraview
  • Flexible to work over time as required
  • Handle time pressure situations and stress of multiple shifting demands
  • The ability to be flexible and adaptable to the changing demands of the job
