We are currently searching for an experienced Legal Assistant to support our lawyers and teams through a blend of administrative and legal responsibilities. What you will do:
Handle administrative tasks for Partners and teams as required, including booking travel, processing expenses, and paying invoices
Organize and schedule meetings, examinations, and related logistics (e.g. booking boardrooms, coordinating schedules, sending invitations)
Manage fax and mail communications, including sending, receiving, scanning, tracking, and distribution
Liaise with other teams and vendors to manage tasks, such as copying and printing jobs, including drafting instructions, accepting deliveries of completed work, and reviewing for quality assurance
Organize and maintain active files
Prepare, process, edit, and proofread a range of documents, including forms, correspondence, and presentations
Draft standard legal documents such as cover letters and affidavits of service
Prepare legal document packages and forms for court filings, client submissions, and trial
File and serve documents electronically
Diarize court and other deadlines
Send and receive documents to clients, courts, and counsel using secure file-sharing platforms
Provide general office support and perform other duties to support the group as assigned
What you bring to this role:
College Certificate or Diploma, or equivalent combination of experience
Minimum 2 years' experience as a Legal Assistant or similar role
Experience in working with Federal and Ontario Courts is an asset
Excellent attention to detail, proofreading and accuracy in documentation preparation
A positive, enthusiastic team member who engages colleagues, partners and clients in a professional manner
Advanced computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Superior organizational skills with the ability to work effectively in a deadline driven environment
