The
People and Culture Assistant - 12 Month-Contract
will provide HR support to People and Culture team and employees in the Southgate plant and Aberfoyle distribution centre. The role will be responsible for HRIS transactions, benefits and pension programs, employee attendance, reporting, onboarding, employee experience programs, social events and will be the front-line support for all employee inquiries. This position will be on-site, 5 days per week. The successful candidate will require their own transportation to travel between the Guelph and Aberfoyle locations.
Payroll & HRIS Maintenance:
Review daily attendance and follow-up with employees as needed
Send out daily attendance report to supervisors
Using the HRIS, process all additions, terminations and changes for hourly and salaried employees
Update employee information in HRIS and other systems.
Prepare reports and perform basic analysis as required
Accountable for accurate and timely updates of employee information in all systems.
Pension and Benefits Administration:
Administer the hourly and salaried pension and benefits programs
Act as resource for inquiries regarding programs
Act as liaison between employees & service providers as required
Collect and forward claims for group benefits
Process employee changes in provider data-bases for Southgate hourly salaried
Audit & process invoices
File and maintain records.
Program Support:
Act as first point of contact for employee inquiries, providing answers and directing to appropriate resources
Participates as a member of the Social Committee keeping minutes and supporting initiatives
Support employee onboarding including the pre-start checklist, file set-up, system access and welcome package
Track and support employee compliance training using Training Manager and the LMS.
Prepare Letters of Verification for hourly staff
Supports employee experience programs including Solutions and Hammy Bucks
Collect and process applications for Scholarship, Computer Purchase Programs
Coordinate HPS Inventory (shirts, hand-outs)
Audit and process People and Culture Credit Card Statements
Owns the Service Award program administration and coordination
Assist with maintenance of coffee stations.
Provide assistance with ongoing and upcoming projects for the P&C department.
Educational Requirements:
Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Human Resources or a related field
CHRP designation or actively working towards designation
Skills and Abilities:

Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products
Excellent written, verbal and comprehension skills
Highly organized and service oriented.
Experience:
Previous experience or co-op terms in an HR Assistant role would be an asset.
