Job Duties/Qualifications, Skills and Abilities(QSA)
The Learning Technology Trainer serves as an educational technology specialist within Saskatchewan Polytechnic, supporting faculty and staff in the adoption, integration, and effective use of established and emerging learning technologies. This dynamic position requires a passionate individual who excels in sharing specialized knowledge through strong relationship building, fostering long-term partnerships with clients, and assisting faculty and programs with the meaningful integration of educational technologies. The ideal candidate possesses robust technical proficiency across a wide range of tools and innovations, including learning management systems, video conferencing solutions, media streaming services, Microsoft 365 and Office tools, artificial intelligence, mixed reality, gaming, and 3D technologies.
The Trainer's specialist expertise is grounded in diverse experience with teaching and/or technology. As an educational technology specialist, they work effectively with clients in various modes--face-to-face, online, and blended--adapting to synchronous, asynchronous, and flexible learning environments. A forward-thinking professional, the Trainer proactively researches and evaluates new technologies, assessing their potential to enrich educational experiences. They collaborate closely with other departments and academic programs to pilot and implement innovative tools and practices.
Additionally, the Trainer is responsible for creating and curating comprehensive, accessible training materials that support faculty development and build institutional capacity. Through expert consultation and problem-solving, they assist faculty in overcoming challenges, advancing the institution's Strategic Plan and Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) Plan, and supporting Saskatchewan Polytechnic's commitment to excellence in teaching and learning
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE
Specific Accountabilities
1. Facilitate training and provide expert assistance to faculty and staff in adopting instructional technologies, with a strong focus on leveraging the appropriate technologies (both emerging and established) to enhance the teaching and learning experience.
2. Champion the advancement of technology-enhanced learning, aligning with Saskatchewan Polytechnic's Strategic Plan and the Division of Learning and Teaching's Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) Plan.
3. Offer specialist advice and support to faculty to foster innovative, engaging, and effective learning environments through the use of instructional and emerging technologies.
4. Consult with programs on the selection, implementation, and integration of appropriate technologies to enrich teaching and learning, including problem-solving, research, resource recommendation, and strategic collaboration for technology integration.
5. Create, maintain, and update high-quality training documentation and resources; deliver personalized training, coaching, and lead workshops on key instructional technology applications such as Brightspace, video conferencing tools, streaming media
platforms (e.g., Kaltura), Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Copilot, SharePoint, and Teams), and other widely used educational technology tools.
6. Collaborate closely with Learning and Teaching staff and other departments to design, promote, and deliver comprehensive faculty and staff training and consultation services.
7. Lead or contribute to the research, analysis, planning, development, and promotion of the adoption of emerging technologies to support innovative teaching and learning, in alignment with institutional priorities and the TEL initiative.
8. Perform other related duties as assigned to support the goals of the Learning Technology team and Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
9. Be prepared to travel as required to provide on-site training and consultation services across local campus, as well as to other campus locations to attend meetings and other related activities.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)
1. Education: A bachelor's degree is required, in education (in educational technology or instructional design), information technology, computer science, or a closely related field that includes significant experience in technology-supported teaching and learning. Candidates must demonstrate a deep understanding of how technology can enhance teaching and learning, along with a commitment to professional growth in the evolving field of digital education.
2. Training and Teaching Experience: A minimum of 2 year experience providing training, coaching, instruction, or client support in an educational, technical, or professional setting. A strong grasp of adult learning principles and confidence facilitating in face-to-face, online, and blended environments is highly valuable and contributes to success in the role.
3. Affinity for Education and Technology: Demonstrated passion for the intersection of education and technology, with evidence of the ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new digital tools. Strong motivation to support educators and learners in applying technology effectively, with a user-centred and service-oriented mindset.
4. Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and client service skills, with the ability to build strong relationships, communicate clearly with diverse faculty, staff, and stakeholders.
5. Technology Proficiency: Recent experience using a range of instructional technologies, learning management systems, and emerging technologies (AI, AR/VR, 3D technologies). High proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Copilot, SharePoint, Teams) and the ability to adapt quickly to new platforms.
6. Creativity and Innovation: Evidence of creativity and enthusiasm for applying learning and emerging technologies to enhance teaching and learning. A commitment to inclusive education is necessary as well as a familiarity with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles.
7. Research and Problem-Solving: Strong ability to research, evaluate, and solve challenges related to educational technologies, including piloting new tools and methods.
8. Course and Resource Development: Ability to contribute to the design and development of training resources, learning materials, or blended and online courses, applying sound instructional design and ensuring accessibility.
9. Independence and Teamwork: Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment, with strong planning, time management, and organizational skills to balance diverse needs and deadlines.
