River Valley School is seeking a dedicated, adaptable and experienced part-time
Learning Support Coordinator
to join our close-knit and dynamic team. The role is a 0.60 FTE temporary leave coverage until March 2026, with the possibility of extension.
The successful candidate is a specialized educator that focuses on providing support to the Education Learning Support Team, educational assistants and teachers when working with students with diverse learning needs. They must be organized, patient, good at motivating students and staff, extremely understanding of people's individual needs and able to accept people's differences. The Learning Support Coordinator will be required to provide guidance in creating IPP's and supporting educational assistants, teachers and the Education Learning Support Team to set and meet individual and realistic targets for each child and meet their individual learning needs.
Responsibilities:
Working under the direction and supervision of the Head of School and Academic Leadership Team, the Learning Support Coordinator will:
Maintain a high level of professionalism.
Provide individualized support to teachers and education teams for students within the classroom.
Collaborate with other members of the educational community which may include school staff, specialists, consultants, professional support staff, parents and community resources to serve students.
To provide leadership, which will assist the educators in developing and implementing programs to meet a student's needs.
Assist teachers, students, and parents in the effective creation and implementation of learning support plans, IPP's and behaviour contracts and plans when appropriate.
Develop and facilitate staff professional development related to inclusive education.
Work with the Director of Enrolment Management and Principal to determine needs of potential and new students.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's of Education
Interim or Permanent Alberta Teacher Certification
Learning Support education and teaching experience would be considered an asset.
Days of the week are flexible.
