Program Overview
YWCA Halifax's LEAD (Leadership, Equity, Activity, Diversity) program focuses on supporting the inclusion of diverse Nova Scotians in sport and recreation. The work of LEAD aims to ensure women, girls and gender diverse people have a voice, opportunity, and supports to engage in sport and recreation across NS. We are looking for someone with interest in wellness, physical activity, and inclusion to join our team!
Role of the Community Physical Activity Support Coordinator
Design and deliver program models for increasing physical activity across diverse communities.
Collaborate with Community Partners to increase accessibility and pathways to physical activity
Knowledge mobilization of emerging of innovative approaches to physical activity
Work collaboratively with other LEAD Team members to complete tasks and ensure the success of the program.
Facilitate workshops, classes or sessions as needed.
Participate in networking and community engagement activities including meetings, committees, trainings and conferences.
Supporting community partners, groups or individuals as they foster, build or develop women and girl led physical activity opportunities.
Collaborating with other organizations, programs and events to provide as much information and resources as possible for participants.
Qualifications and Requirements
College diploma or undergraduate degree in Education, Recreation, Community Development or other relevant areas of studies.
Experience working in sport or recreation settings.
Experience working on policy or systems change work.
Experience facilitating workshops, including online facilitation, classes or programs.
Experience in community partnerships and collaboration.
Effective interpersonal skills and computer literacy.
Ability to work both Independently and as part of a team. Flexible, adaptable, and able to work with your team as needed.
