Job Description

Our Client, one of North America's leading energy infrastructure companies with operations in natural gas, oil and power industries throughout Canada, the United States, and Mexico has an immediate need for a Leak Detection EIT. This is a contract position for eleven (11) months located in Calgary, Alberta.

Description

Reporting to the Manager, Liquids Leak Detection, the Leak Detection Engineer in Training will be responsible for the alignment and compliance of the Operational Management System, including risk management, management of change, information governance and operations training programs with the objective to increase the operational maturity and performance of Liquids Leak Detection.

Accountabilities:

  • Support compliance with pipeline regulations
  • Support conformance within the Operational Management System
  • Perform quality assurance activities
  • Lead/facilitate procedure and process improvement
  • Support efforts to generate required documentation, control of documents and control of records as per the document management procedure
  • Manage the documentation repository in Share Point and OpenText
  • Prepare required evidence for assurance audits and generate reports with action plans to close the findings
  • Support standard quality tools for continuous improvement
  • Train and coach peers on Document Control practices and quality management processes
  • Track progress of post-audit activities and assure their closure
  • Prepare required evidence for external audits and support the team in the closure of non-conformities
  • and/or opportunities for improvement
  • Support compliance of our processes with regulatory requirements (OPR, CFR 195)
  • Support the Legal Regulatory Monitoring Process (LRMP)
  • Support Risk Management activities such as Risk Register and Hazard and Barrier inventory updates
  • Support problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support Annual Program and core process reviews
  • Support efforts to build a strong, competent, proactive, and engaged team
  • Preparation of scorecards, reports and other documentation required
  • Incorporate new assets and new leak detection systems into the leak detection program
  • Collaborate with the Control Center, SCADA and Cybersecurity to remain compliant with regulatory
  • requirements
Requirements:
  • 5 - 10 years of related experience
  • University Degree in relevant discipline
  • Experience in risk management, management of change, information governance and operations training programs
  • Experience supporting compliance with pipeline regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, collaboration, and relationship management skills
  • Advanced skill in Share Point and OpenText
  • Project management skills with the proven ability to juggle and reprioritize priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal direction
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with a diverse team of stakeholders.
  • Keen focus on technical details, and is forward thinking
  • Ability to create solutions from ideation to experimentation to delivery with a bias for action and no fear of failure.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with pipeline system operations, Control Center operations
  • Experience in sustainment/improvement of Management Systems or a related role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of document control practices, auditing techniques, and quality assurance practices

  • This position works a hybrid work model - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday in office and optional work from home days on Wednesdays and Fridays
