The Job - Lead Water Damage Technician



At On Side, Lead Water Damage Technicians (WDTs) lead the team, going wherever a burst pipe, blocked drain, sewer backup (yes, sometimes it's one of those situations) or other water-related disaster calls.

Understanding the urgency of the situation and working with customers in a caring, calm and empathetic manner are paramount to the success of a Lead WDTs day!

Working as a team, WDTs mop up the mess to ensure everything is shipshape and ready to get back to the pre-disaster state.

What you bring:



A Lead WDT bring a host of abilities to their work with a 'get it done!' attitude.

Additional abilities include:

Knowledge of structural drying procedures Ability to perform structural drying assessments in accordance with IICRC guidelines Ability to complete multi-unit structural drying assessments Leadership abilities and experience leading a team Experienced with all drying tools (air movers, negative air machines, pressurized drying systems, floor drying systems, dehumidifiers) Organized with a good sense of time-- you're rarely late and know where all your tools are Physically fit A safety-first mindset IICRC S500-1999 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water Damage Restoration certification. Valid driver's licence and a clean criminal record (we do check) Ability to communicate clearly in English, both spoken and written (dealing with Insureds, staff and management)
Past industry experience that can translate into success as a WDT includes: Water Damage Manager, lead hand, or Water Damage Technician.

Other stuff that will contribute to your success but isn't required:



Knowledge of 3D Imaging

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.

Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour

Are you physically fit? Can you lift 50lbs and walk upstairs when required? Are you capable of repetitive heavy lifting? Moving equipment, furniture and boxes are the norm in this position so being physically capable is a requirement. Do you consider yourself to be tech savvy? Restoration work requires documentation and tracking throughout your workday.
Do you have computer and/or tablet/iPad experience and are comfortable using various computer programs?

Are you able to work a Rotating On-Call Schedule (Responding to emergency calls after business hours)? This is additional to scheduled daytime hours as per the schedule. Premium and overtime is paid. Do you have any valid (or expired) IICRC certificates? Please list them here. Do you have industry experience as a Water Damage Technician in Disaster Relief Restoration? If yes, how many years?

Have you ever had to motivate team members who underperformed? Tell us about it. Do you consider yourself to be a dependable, organized and self motivated? This position requires a high degree of making logical decisions, training help, dealing with home-owners, schedules and job duties.
Describe how you could be an asset to On Side Restoration:

Are you able to work later than scheduled when required? A job may require an additional hour or two of overtime to be fully complete. Being available to work a bit extra to get the job done is helpful (vs returning the next day for a quick finish). Overtime is paid. Are you comfortable driving a cargo van/fleet vehicle around the city and parking in residential streets? Will you be able to provide a clean driver's abstract?
