The Job - Water Damage Technician
At On Side, Water Damage Technicians (WDTs) go wherever a burst pipe, blocked drain, sewer backup (yes, sometimes it's one of those situations) or other water-related disaster calls. Understanding the urgency of the situation and working with customers in a caring, calm and empathetic manner are paramount to the success of a WDTs day! Working as a team, WDTs mop up the mess to ensure everything is shipshape and ready to get back to the pre-disaster state.

Labourers bring a host of abilities to their work, not the least being a 'get it done!' attitude. Additional abilities include:
Previous experience as a Water Damage Technician
Mechanical aptitude-- you can look at something and just know how it works
Set up and take down of poly containment and drop sheets to accommodate work
Assists with demolition and debris disposal
Detail oriented and curious
Organized with a good sense of time-- you're rarely late and know where all your tools are- work under time constraints to meet specific timelines
Physically fit-- water damage can, at times, include heavy lifting and getting into (and out of) tight places
Working at Heights - over 5 feet, periodically
Basic computer and/or tablet/iPad experience
Friendly and enjoys working in a team!
A safety-first mindset
Valid driver's licence & clean drivers abstract* Able to successfully satisfy On Side's criminal record check requirements* Ability to communicate in English or French (QC) at an intermediate level*
Past industry experience (although not required) that can translate into success as a WDT includes: demolition work, carpenter, apprentice, construction labourer, plumber, farm hand, janitor, landscaper, vac truck operator, laborer, swamper, technician.
Other stuff that will contribute to your success but isn't required:
IICRC Water Damage Technician Certification (if you don't have this, we'll help you get it!)
Of Note
Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.

Do you consider yourself to be tech savvy? This position is 80% paperless and operating software, phones, tablets, etc will be mandatory.
Do you have a valid (or expired) IICRC certificate?

Do you have experience with drying tools (air movers, negative air machines, pressurized drying systems, floor drying systems, dehumidifiers, moisture meters)?
This position requires lots of standing, crouching, bending, reaching, kneeling, etc. Are you capable of this kind of constant movement?
Do you have any Restoration Industry experience with water damage? If it is not obvious on your resume, please provide details.
Cross training and helping other team members is required for this role. Successful candidates will be trained in Demolition, Contents, and Remediation. Are you able and willing to train and work in other roles?
Are you legally entitled to work in Canada?

Are you comfortable driving a large fleet vehicle around the city and parking in residential streets? If not, are you willing to learn?
Are you able to work a Rotating On-Call Schedule (Responding to emergency calls after business hours)? This is additional to scheduled daytime hours as per the schedule. Premium and overtime is paid.
