The Opportunity (Waterloo, Ontario/Hybrid)

We are looking for a talented, experienced individual to join the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery function in our Global Information Security organization. In this role, you will have the opportunity to drive the development, enhancement and maturity of major government initiatives, primarily related to Protected B (Canada) and FedRAMP (USA) . This focuses on development, documentation and validation of contingency planning controls required to provide recoverability assurance for these solutions. You will be directly involved with analysis, development and implementation of Contingency Planning (CP) methodologies that address related control objectives and will work closely with Engineering, Architecture, Operations and other functional areas. Effective communication and partnership will be required to engage, organize, and deliver services aligned to business requirements, operational priorities, and corporate values.
You are great at:

  • Being enthusiastic about aligning requirements, corporate culture and establishing best-in-class solutions.
  • Detailed analysis of resiliency and recovery functionality in a variety of solution architectures.
  • Interpreting regulatory compliance requirements and formulating innovative approaches.
  • Developing strategies to enhance governance, assessment and validation of complex solutions.
  • Acting as an expert resource on major regulatory standards related to Contingency Planning.
  • Risk analysis, gap assessment, and collaboration in developing remediation methodologies.
  • Identifying and guiding process improvements in support of BC/DR maturity and enhancement targets.
  • Understanding Cloud and Off-Cloud architectures \xe2\x80\x93 in particular, key Hyperscaler providers (GCP, AWS, Azure).
  • Developing, socializing, advocating and maintaining key policies, standards, procedures.
  • Sustaining and maintaining a robust BC/DR solution aligned with ongoing assessment and reporting requirements.
  • Leading and/or supporting cross-functional recoverability assessments and/or validation exercises.
  • Identifying process improvement and automation opportunities aligned with Continuous Service Improvement.
  • Communicating, partnering and advising in a cross-functional environment.

What it takes:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or related vocations.
  • At least 5 years work experience with Disaster Recovery and/or Business Continuity.
  • Additional expertise in Information Security, Compliance, Risk Management, or Internal Audit would be an asset.
  • Experience with moderate- to high-baseline control requirements, e.g., Protected B or FedRAMP is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO 27001/27002, 22301, 31000, NIST SP-800 and related standards would be an asset.
  • Involvement with solution architecture review, product management and SDLC lifecycle would be an asset.
  • Strong skills in relationship management and working in a team environment are essential.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize workload and tasks to effectively meet established deadlines is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in navigating through complex, abstract, or stressful projects and situations.
  • Strong technical, analytical, interpersonal, communication and writing skills are essential.
  • Experience with or solid understanding of DevOps, systems integration, infrastructure, middleware, networking, Cloud architecture, software testing, change/release management would be valuable.
  • Experience with project coordination in a large cross-functional virtual working environment would be an asset
  • Certifications related to Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, Information Security, Risk Analysis and/or Project Management would be an asset.
