Here\'s what you\'ll be doing....Obtains and receives inbound stock, retrieves merchandise from warehouse stock and prepares it to be shipped according to instructions, processes returned stock, checks inventory and assists in maintaining related records. Supervises full time and part time staff in the absence of the Warehouse Manager/Supervisor.The following illustrative tasks indicate the level of skill required and the extent of responsibility involved in this position. They in no way limit the incumbent to the tasks indicated.Hours of Work:

  • 7:30am - 4pm (Monday - Friday) 1 position available
Wage Rate:
  • $24.24
This is a unionized position in the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 3261, Full TimeKey Responsibilities include:
  • Receive and put-away incoming stock; sign for incoming deliveries. Supervise part time staff assisting with receiving
  • Track staff attendance and report issues relating to staff performance to the Warehouse Manager/Supervisor
  • May be required to perform and/or oversee other warehouse activities including:
o Release orders according to the daily schedule or special instructions of the Warehouse Manager/Supervisor
o Assign orders to both full time and part time performing picking
o Fulfil replenishment orders from the bulk sections of the warehouse
o Direct part-time staff by assigning returns responsibilities and ensures that returns processing is carried out in an accurate and timely fashion. Submit daily report on returns activity
o Retrieve merchandise from warehouse inventory and assembles to complete assigned orders
o Follow up to source missing stock
o Prepare orders for shipping according to instructions given, insuring they are packed carefully according to established standards before assigning a carrier
  • Replenish, pick, pack, confirm and ship orders in a timely manner
  • Assign full time staff to follow up on missing stock for orders
  • Scan incoming stock, order replenishments, pick-pack-confirm
  • Operates a 2-ton lift truck
  • General cleaning
  • Assist in annual inventory count
  • Undertake special projects assigned by the Warehouse Manager
  • Performs other related duties as required
Education, Qualifications, and Experience:
  • High school graduate; or combination of education/experience
  • 2-ton Lift Truck certification
  • Sky Jack certification
  • Order Picker certification
  • Move/lift cartons/product weighing up to 40 pounds
Equipment used:
  • Hand held scanner
  • Hand truck
  • 2-ton Lift Truck (Swing Reach and Double Reach), Sky Jack, Order Picker, Electric Walkie
  • Computer system

About our Team:The Distribution Division is based at 5201 Dufferin Street, in Toronto and provides shipping, receiving and storage for the University of Toronto Press and approximately 40 independent publishers. Normal operations for the facility is 16 hours a day, 5 days a week, and is staffed by more than 100 full and part-time, warehouse and office employees.
