Position Overview

As a Lead Piping Estimator, you will prepare, review and present discipline estimates for specific project proposal activities. In this role, you will provide estimating assistance and guidance to projects, develop conceptual estimates and perform cost analysis. You will be responsible for assisting in the development of discipline estimates, developing and updating historical databases, and assisting in the development of department procedures. You will provide direction to others on estimate specific level tasks as required. #LI-HM1

Location

This position is based in Montreal.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates on work for major projects locally and across Canada
  • Develop comprehensive estimates for large and complex works
  • Review the owner\'s plans and specifications to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project; develop a plan for actual construction as the basis for the estimate
  • Review all tender and contract documents and advice from the home office legal department
  • Coordinate with other disciplines such as planning, scheduling, procurement, and proposal team
  • Determine installation quantities based on drawings and specifications
  • Prepare and present your estimate to management and external clients
  • Collaborate for the continuous improvement of the methods and processes for developing estimates for the entire team
  • Coordinate with other disciplines such as planning, scheduling, procurement, and proposal team
  • Maintain a professional and trustworthy relationship with clients, professionals, subcontractors and suppliers
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree or Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent experience in piping estimation with relevant industry experience
  • About 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical construction or mechanical estimating for major projects
  • Excellent knowledge of the Canadian construction market
  • Excellent communication skills, if possible in both French and English
  • Effective presentation and negotiation skills
  • Advanced computer skills. Knowledge of MS Office, AutoCad and BlueBeam software is an asset
  • Experience in industrial, hydro, oil and gas and mining is an asset.
  • Must be willing to travel as required to visit project sites or meet with clients for estimate specific needs
  • Well organized, flexible, team player, detail oriented and multi-tasked.
  • Prioritize workload and consistently meet deadlines while constantly changing tasks and demands
