Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Lead Estimator to take ownership of our estimating function and help drive the continued growth of BAAC Construction. The Lead Estimator will manage the full tendering process, develop accurate cost estimates, build and maintain vendor relationships, and support strategic pricing decisions. This is a hands-on leadership role that will work closely with senior management and operations teams to ensure we remain competitive and profitable.

This is a full-time, in-office role based out of our Calgary headquarters.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the full estimating cycle for civil construction projects (utilities, earthworks, concrete, site servicing, etc.) Review, interpret, and verify drawings, specifications, and tender documents Develop accurate, detailed cost estimates and proposals Identify project risks, opportunities, and value-engineering options Solicit, review, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotes Mentor junior estimators or coordinators as the team grows Maintain up-to-date cost databases, productivity rates, and historical pricing data Collaborate with Project Managers and Senior Leadership during handoff and execution

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in civil construction estimating (utilities, earthworks, or infrastructure projects strongly preferred) Proven ability to manage tenders from start to finish independently Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and bid processes Proficient with Microsoft Excel and estimating software (experience with HeavyBid or similar considered an asset) Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive Salary:
