Job Description


The Opportunity:

As the Lead Engineer based at our Fort St. John location, you will be accountable to set the vision for the area\xe2\x80\x99s Technical Team which is comprised of 15 staff. You will be responsible for maximizing cash flow through well and facility optimization as well as being the front-runner in our GHG reduction program. The successful candidate will also optimize production design for new developments, identify opportunities, and execute plans to optimize and expand existing operations.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support and lead a culture of Safety Excellence through leading by example and following all applicable codes and regulations
  • Work closely with the Fort St. John District Superintendents to ensure operational and project technical support needs are being met
  • Ensure plant and field equipment and processes are optimized to maximize equipment capacities and minimize operating costs
  • Provide on-site technical support to Operations and Maintenance groups
  • Monitor plant and equipment performance and reliability to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Provide mentorship to the group\xe2\x80\x99s EITs (Engineers in Training)
  • Identify and quantify the value of upgrade/optimization opportunities
  • Ensure all existing facilities and new construction projects comply with regulatory requirements
  • Work with the Technical team to review development issues and plans and perform evaluations of facilities to best meet those goals
  • Health, Safety, & Environment:
  • Comply with all Health and Safety Requirements established by Canadian Natural Resources Limited
  • Establish a strong safety culture for the team; be a role model for the safety core values, lead and support the safety management system, and actively engage with frontline teams to ensure safe work procedures are followed at all times
  • Lead, review, and investigate any unsafe acts and conditions and take the appropriate corrective actions

  • Job location: Fort St. John, British Columbia
  • Shift schedule: 5x2 \xe2\x80\x93 Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day
  • Eligible for relocation to Fort St. John

Skills & Qualifications:
  • Typically 10+ years of industry experience with Engineering Degree or equivalent
  • Strong communication and managerial skills
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding department goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results
  • Registration and membership in good standing with APEGA and/or EGBC
  • Strong leadership skills complemented with a strong work ethic is required
  • Strong interpersonal skills combined with effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to foresee potential issues or problems through strong planning and organizing skills
  • Proven analytical abilities, along with solid task management and reporting skills and commitment to defining goals and setting targets
  • Exceptional problem solving skills to understand the details and complexities of the issues, while still striving for targeted results
