We are seeking a highly skilled

Lead Electrical Engineer

with

12+ years of experience

to join our team in

Ontario, Canada (Remote option available)

. The ideal candidate will have a deep technical background in

power distribution systems

,

inverters

,

DC to AC converters

, and

electrical panel design

for

SOFC (Solid Oxide Fuel Cell)

systems. You will be responsible for leading electrical design activities and ensuring compliance with

North American electrical standards

and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:



Design power distribution architecture for SOFC systems. Develop electrical panel requirements and select plant UPS and accessories. Size and select components based on critical loads. Generate and update electrical Bill of Materials (BoM). Perform calculations and ensure compliance with

Utility grid interconnection

requirements. Lead the creation of

wiring diagrams

,

single-line diagrams

, and

technical documentation

. Guide junior engineers and ensure quality. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality electrical solutions.

Must-Have Technical Skills:



Strong technical competency

in all aspects of

power distribution

, including:

Concept architecture design

,

sizing of components

,

protection

,

harmonics

,

grounding

,

thermal management

,

lightning protection

, and

EMC (electromagnetic compatibility)

.

Expert knowledge

of

power distribution equipment

, such as

transformers

,

switchgears

,

circuit breakers

,

protection systems

, and

busbar systems

.

Proficiency with electrical CAD and electrical calculation software

, including tools like

WSCAD

,

EPLAN

, or similar. Extensive experience with

electrical design for hazardous areas

, adhering to

US & CA standards

.

In-depth knowledge of North American electrical standards

, including:

NFPA

,

NEC

,

CSA

, and

UL panel certification

.

Familiarity with IEC standards

(such as

IEC 61439

,

IEC 60204

,

IEC 60076

,

IEC 62271

) is a

plus

.

Educational Background:



Degree

: Bachelor's or Master's degree in

Electrical Engineering

or a related field.

Certifications

:

P.Eng.

(Professional Engineer) certification is preferred or the ability to obtain it.

Experience & Competencies:



At least 10 years of experience

in electrical design and drafting, primarily focused on

Low Voltage systems

and electrical design in the

North American market

.

Proficient in electrical components calculation, selection, and integration

, including components such as

protection systems

,

motors starters

,

variable frequency drives (VFDs)

,

switches

,

LV transformers

, etc.

Experience in conductor calculation

,

sizing

, and developing

wiring diagrams

.

Design and construction of electrical panels

for the

North American market

, including knowledge of

UL standards

(UL 508, UL 508A, NFPA 79, NFPA 70).

Experience with IEC and IEEE standards

in electrical design.

Excellent command of electrical design software

, such as

ePlan P8

,

WSCAD

,

SEE Electrical

,

E3.Series

,

Electra E8

, or similar tools.

Experience in electrical design for hazardous locations

, particularly in North American markets. Basic understanding of

P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams)

and

MV distribution systems

.

Proficient in basic office software

(Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting.

Desirable Skills:



Experience in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects

in the

renewable energy

substation

, and

oil & gas

sectors. Experience working with

electrical machinery manufacturers

electrical panel manufacturers

, or

rolling stock manufacturers

. Experience in

electrical consultancy

and working with

international engineering teams

Strong communication skills

in English, with the ability to articulate technical information to stakeholders and teams.
