The Role
As the
Project Lead Electrical Engineer
, you will serve as the
Engineer of Record (EoR)
and lead the end-to-end execution of
Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
, and
power quality/power conditioning projects
.
This includes
design, permitting, procurement, construction oversight, testing, commissioning, and client handoff
.
You will also take ownership of
general electrical design and project engineering
tasks across Circuit Energy's portfolio, ensuring that all deliverables meet regulatory, technical, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution & Leadership
Serve as
Engineer of Record (EoR)
for electrical projects, reviewing and stamping drawings, calculations, and reports.
Lead and coordinate the
design, permitting, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning
of Solar PV, BESS, UPS, and power quality systems.
Develop detailed
system designs, SLDs, and drawing packages
(ESA, CIA, RFPs, IFC, As-Builts).
Ensure full compliance with
OESC, CSA, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, OBC
, and all applicable standards.
Conduct
field inspections
, witness tests, and verify system performance against specifications.
Collaborate with project managers to maintain project
budget, schedule, and scope control
.
Electrical Engineering & Design
Design and review
low and medium-voltage distribution systems
, including
switchgear, MCCs, transformers, and control panels
.
Develop
short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies
using ETAP or equivalent tools.
Prepare
load flow, cable sizing, grounding, and protection settings
documentation.
Provide
technical oversight and mentorship
to junior engineers and drafters.
Review
shop drawings, submittals, and as-built documentation
for accuracy and compliance.
Prepare
technical specifications
and
design briefs
for client and regulatory submissions.
Equipment & Vendor Selection
Lead selection of inverters, transformers, switchgear, protection relays, BESS modules, and related equipment.
Conduct
technical and commercial evaluations
and assist in
RFP and bid review processes
.
Maintain strong relationships with key vendors and monitor
emerging technologies
.
Sales & Proposal Support
Collaborate with the sales team to create
technical proposals, RFP responses, and presentations
.
Participate in
client meetings
as a technical expert, explaining system feasibility and design rationale.
Provide
conceptual designs and cost estimates
during early project stages.
Knowledge & Innovation
Stay current with
industry codes, incentive programs, and regulatory changes
.
Lead internal
design standards development and process improvements
.
Support
research and integration
of innovative technologies in energy storage, hybrid systems, and AI-driven dispatch platforms.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
(Master's preferred).
P.Eng. License in Ontario (required)
or ability to obtain in short order.
5+ years
of experience in electrical design and project engineering for
Solar PV, BESS, power conditioning, or industrial power systems
.
Expertise in
AutoCAD, ETAP, Helioscope, PVSyst, HOMER, and/or SKM Power Tools
.
Strong knowledge of
protection & control, grounding/bonding, power quality, and utility interconnections
.
Experience acting as
Engineer of Record
or reviewing designs for regulatory submission.
Ability to interpret
electrical, mechanical, civil, and architectural
drawings.
Strong communication, leadership, and cross-functional coordination skills.
Willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Pay: $75,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
