Are you a carpenter with broad knowledge of homes, and that loves to build and teach others? Do you enjoy leading, and helping to manage projects as part of a small team?

Refind Builders is seeking Lead Carpenter to join our growing team!

This person should be excited to supervise apprentices, while being productive on the tools. Including doing some daily prep and assisting sub trades. Reading architectural and engineering drawings is a must as well. Being highly tolerant of others in the work place is essential.

Many of the job duties as a lead carpenter include:

Supervise and manage a small team Assist in the preparation of jobsites prior to the beginning of a project Manage daily tasks on the jobsite which included assigning and delegating carpentry tasks to the appropriate staff member based on ability levels Teach carpentry skills to team members of differing abilities Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications to perform work activities and calculate requirements Supervise the final product as it develops Operate various hand tools, power tools, and equipment used to complete carpentry duties Prepare layouts and build foundations Build walls and install partitions Building decks and fences Framing for concrete installation projects Unique and custom shopwork, done in Central Saanich location Manual labour will be required from time to time

Requirements:

Red Seal is an asset

but not necessary. (Must know all carpentry math including trigonometry, pythagorean theorem, area, perimeter, stair, and roof). Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner Time management skills - ability to watch the clock and assess progress with the maturity to not be distracted by cell phone distractions. Teaching and supervising skills Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications Must possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools, and equipment required to complete various construction practices Ability to be a leader by example on the jobsite along with independent and cooperative/collaborative team work.

40 hours a week. 7:30am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday with a 45min lunch Two weeks paid vacation time to start.
