Job Description

Position: Lead Carpenter

Birch Lane Builders is hiring an experienced Lead Carpenter to take ownership of residential job sites and keep projects moving efficiently, safely, and to spec.

This role is for someone with the experience and confidence to lead day-to-day work on site with minimal oversight. You should be comfortable making decisions, organizing workflow, and keeping a crew productive without constant direction.

Core Responsibilities

Lead and organize daily job site operations Plan and execute daily and weekly workflow to keep projects on schedule Work independently from drawings, plans, and verbal direction Direct and support crew members and coordinate with subcontractors Identify issues early and resolve them efficiently on site Maintain job site safety, cleanliness, and professionalism Communicate progress, delays, and material needs clearly Deliver high-quality work while respecting timelines and budgets

Required Qualifications

10+ years of hands-on experience in residential construction or home building Proven experience leading job sites or crews Strong carpentry skills across framing, finishing, and general construction Excellent organization, time management, and problem-solving skills Highly proficient with a wide range of construction tools and equipment, including hand tools, power tools, and job site machinery Ability to work independently and take responsibility for outcomes Valid G2 driver's license or higher with Ability to be insured under company policy Comfortable operating company trucks and towing trailers, including backing, hitching, and safe load management

Assets

Experience operating or working around heavy equipment Working knowledge of trucks, trailers, hitches, and job site logistics Experience coordinating subcontractors and material deliveries Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings
