The Lead Advisor, Network Engineer is a key member of the Network & Infrastructure Team, and is responsible for implementation, administration, maintenance, and support of the organization's network architectures including LAN, WAN, and internet connectivity. Responsibilities
Design and Architecture: Lead the design and documentation of LAN and WAN architectures, including routing, switching, segmentation, and interconnectivity across hybrid environments.
Implementation and Configuration: Deploy and configure enterprise-grade network hardware (Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, etc.) and software-defined networking (SDN) solutions.
Performance Engineering: Analyze network performance metrics and implement tuning strategies to optimize throughput, latency, and reliability.
Security Engineering: Collaborate with security teams to implement firewall rules, VPNs, NAC, and segmentation policies that align with security best practices.
Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., Python, Ansible) to automate network configuration, monitoring, and compliance tasks.
Monitoring and Diagnostics: Utilize advanced tools (e.g., Wireshark, NetFlow, SNMP, syslog, packet brokers) to perform root cause analysis and resolve complex network issues.
Capacity Planning: Forecast bandwidth and infrastructure needs based on growth trends and application requirements.
Documentation and Standards: Maintain detailed network diagrams, configuration baselines, and operational runbooks.
Mentorship and Leadership: Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and participate in peer reviews and design sessions.
Disaster Recovery: Contribute to the design and testing of network-related disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Qualifications
Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field.
5-8 years of experience in enterprise network engineering, including design and implementation.
Strong hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching platforms (Catalyst, Nexus, ISR/ASR).
Proficiency in routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP) and Layer 2 technologies (VLANs, STP, EtherChannel).
Experience with firewall platforms and VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL, site-to-site, remote access).
Experience with network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python, REST APIs).
Solid understanding of TCP/IP stack, QoS, multicast, and network segmentation.
Cisco CCNP or equivalent certification required; CCIE-level knowledge is a strong asset but not mandatory.
Skills
Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid connectivity (Direct Connect, ExpressRoute).
Exposure to SD-WAN, NAC (802.1X), and Zero Trust architectures.
Familiarity with ITIL processes and enterprise change management practices.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Other Requirements
Availability for after-hours maintenance.
Occasional travel to data centers or remote sites may be required.
